Support 20 More Years of Impact
Since 2004, the Global Center on Cooperative Security has worked to support communities to reduce violence and save lives, reform institutions to protect human rights, and shape domestic and international security policies to build a just and secure world. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary and reflect on the last two decades, we are proud of the positive impact we have made together with our partners.
Over 20 years, the Global Center has implemented more than $60 million in grant funding across 300 programs in more than 60 countries, working with governments, international organizations, the private sector, and community groups.

Recent Success Stories
Countering Violent Extremism in Prisons in Kenya
Between 2020-2023, the Global Center worked together with the Kenya Prisons Service to develop and deliver a Countering Violent Extremism in Prisons Awareness Raising Course to over 30,000 prison officers and new recruits at over 130 prisons. Through the training of 80 trainers from prisons across Kenya and a national rollout, the program built a system-wide baseline among the Kenya Prisons Service on understanding and awareness of violent extremism in prisons.

Countering Terrorism Financing
The Global Center has been a driving force for financial transparency, accountability, and economic empowerment while countering the financing of terrorism. In Jordan, Albania, and North Macedonia, we delivered a series of trainings for national stakeholders in 2023 that culminated in a multi-country financial investigation simulation with law enforcement, intelligence services, customs agencies, financial intelligence units, prosecutors, and private sector representatives.
Stronger Community Engagement
Over the last year, we consulted with more than 174 civil society representatives from more than 54 countries around the world, to explore avenues for stronger civil society engagement with the United Nations on counterterrorism issues. We strive to lay the groundwork for deeper and more meaningful civil society engagement practices within the United Nations and more effective civil society coalition-building to amplify the experience and influence of marginalized groups most impacted by political violence and abuses perpetrated in the name of countering terrorism.

We believe that a just and secure world can only be achieved through policies and programs that protect human rights, leverage cooperative and strategic partnerships, and address broader drivers of violence and insecurity, including corruption, the climate crisis, and socio-economic inequalities.
As the threat of terrorism and global conflict evolves, our work to advance human rights–centered responses to political violence, violent extremism, and injustice worldwide is even more important now than ever before.
